To our dear clients that have their website hosted with us and have contracted our website optimization and maintenance, we like to inform you that we are in the process of changing all websites from HTTP protocol to HTTPS:
Google search engine is leading the move to this change in views of offering a secure and private online experience to users when using a website.
There is not complete certainty that this change will temporarily affect positive or negative search engine ranking and popularity of our websites, however the change is necessary as Search engines are already flagging non websites using https protocol as “not secure” which discourage users from continue to browse the website’s content which means “lost client” and we don’t like that, do we?
Some technical details:
HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure) is an internet communication protocol that protects the integrity and confidentiality of data between the user’s computer and the site.
Data sent using HTTPS is secured via Transport Layer Security protocol (TLS), which provides three key layers of protection:
- Encryption—encrypting the exchanged data to keep it secure from eavesdroppers. That means that while the user is browsing a website, nobody can “listen” to their conversations, track their activities across multiple pages, or steal their information.
- Data integrity—data cannot be modified or corrupted during transfer, intentionally or otherwise, without being detected.
- Authentication—proves that your users communicate with the intended website. It protects against man-in-the-middle attacks and builds user trust, which translates into other business benefits
In regards to functionality of your website, there might be some parts of the website like applications or plugins or forms that may stop functioning or may not deliver as expected, and just in case we miss to correct one, do not hesitate to let us know immediately.
